“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” —Saint Augustine
Of course, traveling is a very different endeavor from moving to a new country and culture! If I could sit across from Saint Augustine, drink in hand, pondering life’s wonders, I’d suggest that traveling is more like browsing—while moving is akin to sitting down and conducting a thorough literature review.
Hi, and welcome to our blog. I’m Coco, the second “C” in Cat & Coco, here to introduce who we are, what we offer, and how we support women moving through complex transitions—especially those considering a move to Mexico.
Why Cat & Coco?
Cat and I met when I first moved to Mérida. A mutual friend suggested we connect, and I was immediately grateful to have a wise, grounded woman already living there to welcome me. Although I’d spent more than a decade living in other countries, I was new to this part of Mexico—and Cat, who had already been there for six years and owned her home for much longer, quickly became a trusted resource and friend.
Soon after, of course, she abandoned me and moved to Tequisquiapan, a small town in Querétaro about three hours from Mexico City. But the friendship stuck.
Over the years, we’ve kept showing up for each other—not just as mothers, but later as daughters navigating the responsibility of caregiving for our aging parents. It was during one of our check-ins that we realized just how much we’d learned (and unlearned) along the way. From relocation logistics to emotional landmines, from school systems to health systems to burnout—we’ve walked through it.
With so many women now considering Mexico as a new home, we decided it was time to create a space to share what we’ve learned and offer the kind of support we wish we’d had: practical, emotional, real.
What Are We Offering Right Now?
Right now, we're offering a suite of services tailored to women exploring a move to Mexico—especially those who are raising kids, caring for aging parents, or going through big life transitions.
We're also hosting free weekly calls every Friday at 4:00 PM Mexico City / 6:00 PM Eastern, where women can ask questions, share dreams and doubts, and connect with others walking a similar path.
🌿 Click here to sign up for a free call – donations welcome, but never required.
A Bit More About Us

Catherine (Cat)
Cat has lived, worked and travelled throughout Mexico for nearly 20 years, and prior to that made her home in New York City and Rome, Italy. She brings over 25 years of experience in global human rights and women’s empowerment. As the founder of Collaborative Insights, she has coached changemakers, caregivers, and leaders through major transitions, always with a focus on conscious leadership and authentic connection.
She’s raised two daughters across cultures and cared for her own parents in Mexico in times of need. Cat’s steady, wise, and compassionate presence helps women find clarity and move forward with confidence. Whether you’re moving to Mexico or facing a more internal crossroads, Cat is someone who meets you where you are—and walks with you from there.

Cordelia (Coco)
Coco is a writer, educator, and cross-cultural guide who has spent over two decades navigating life in the US, the UK, Southeast Asia, and Mexico. With deep roots in language, education, and creating community, she helps women find calm amidst complexity.
She’s led educational groups, rebuilt after loss, and supported families through tough transitions—including divorce, mental health crises, and elder care. A natural connector, Coco holds space for the messy middle—when there are more questions than answers and more pressure than peace. Through Cat & Coco, she brings grounded insight, humor, and heart to help women feel seen and supported.
🗝️ A Takeaway: Before You Decide…
Moving can be overwhelming—not just because of logistics, but because of all the choices and emotions that come with it.
If you’re considering a move to Mexico (or anywhere else), one of the most powerful things you can do is pause and ask:
Why am I moving?
Is this about safety, opportunity, burnout, adventure?
What do I envision for myself and my family five or ten years from now?
Knowing your “why” can guide every other decision—from where you land to how you build your life there.
Why This Blog?
We created this blog to share what we’ve learned, offer practical tips, and explore the emotional realities of caregiving and relocation. In time, we hope it becomes a place where others can share their journeys too—a community of caring carers.
Whether you move to Mexico, move somewhere else, or just move closer to what matters most—we’re here to walk with you.
